If it is possible to teach the American Civil War in forty-eight lectures of thirty minutes each, then Professor Gary Gallagher has done just that with his American Civil War audio course from The Great Courses. While most of the class focuses on battles and leaders, the course also looks at politics, economics, finance, supply, the naval war, the river war, diplomacy, the home front, the Emancipation Proclamation, prisoners of war, women, and African-Americans and their relationship to the Civil War. Professor Gallagher quotes quite frequently from diaries, letters, and memoirs during the course of the lectures. I especially enjoyed the lessons on the advantages and disadvantages of North and South before the war, John Wilkes Booth and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and the Myth of the Lost Cause. I also liked how the course presents the background and personalities of the numerous political and military leaders of the conflict. If you are a busy teacher (as I am) and do not have time to read the large number of books on the Civil War, this course is an excellent substitute and will provide a concise yet informative introduction to one of the most important events in American history.

I got my book in the mail yesterday and was super excited. I read most of it last night and finished the last chapter this morning and I'm very happy with my purchase. This truly is an introductory book. It breaks down Chakras in a very simplistic way. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific Chakra and breaks down what the Chakra is, the color associated with it and what can happen when your Chakras are out of balance. Each chapter includes exercises for you to practice. I have not tried them yet but they seem easy enough to understand and put into practice. There are two additional chapters, one that discusses Crystals and another Aromatherapy. Over all this is a great read and very useful information for someone who knows nothing about Chakras but wants to learn. There are key words through out the book that will help lead to further research and lend themselves to learning more about Chakras. This is an easy read about 60 pages, medium font.

This is an excellent Beginner's guide to the Chakra's, easy to understand and gives a description of each chakra and the health affects of each one if blocked. I'm new to learning about the chakra's and I've found it extremely helpful. It's a small but very helpful starter book. Very happy with purchase, received very quickly, would order again thank you :) x

I recommend this little book to anyone seeking basic knowledge of the Chakras, and the different therapies that can heal them.This book is the basics..I have not completed all the exercises in the book but feel very positive about those that I did complete.

Honestly, seems self published. Lots of grammar issues. Subjects were interesting but the mistakes in the grammar really bugged me

Not impressed. It seems like it was typed in a word document, not proof-read, and then slapped onto 69 pages. Huge fonts and inconsistent spacing was also noted and distracting. Paragraphs were inconsistent. For example, one paragraph would explain what you would feel if that particular chakra was balanced and another for it feeling unbalanced, or blocked. Then for another chakra the order was switched and in another every other sentence went back and forth. Like the author just sat down one day and typed out his thoughts and boom, somehow it got published. The description of the book sounded way more appealing than any of the content. So glad I ordered another one with much better reviews and only ordered this because I knew it was smaller but was hoping for quick points to learn and understand. It really could have been great if the author and editor sat down afterward and answered the, "What is missing here?" questions. If you want a pretty book for your shelf-2 stars. If you want coherent, grammatically correct, and cohesive information on chakras-0! Scroll on!

Great basic overview. Makes chakras very easy to understand. Great book for anyone who wants to start. There are many grammatical errors that simple editing could have fixed but this has no effect on content

I received my book yesterday and started reading it today. It has some good insight so far on yourself, your energies, your chakras, and explaining our body. This is the real deal. This book makes you think and the questions have you like what am I doing with my Life. This book helps you start a new journey and new way of thinking and check who you let around you in your circle. Positivity is Light.

They have a deep (both correct and very up-to-date) understanding that spans the technical aspects of data analytics, and how and why analytics is used in business settings to make business oriented decisions. Second, the book is well crafted. It is very well organized with very clear and to-the-point explanations. Of the five authors of this book, three of them (Shmueli, Bruce and Patel) have been together as a text writing team since 2007, and this is the 5th time they have updated and revised their business analytics text based on new developments in the field, and based on ongoing feedback from faculty and students who have used the text in both academic courses and professional training courses. Third, because this team has been deeply involved in data analytics for decades, they have a good sense of perspective. They understand the history and evolution of models from the statistics community, as well as the history and evolution of models from computing communities spanning both data mining and machine learning. The lead author, Galit Shmueli, has been publishing in both the statistics literature as well as the management science literature on the differences between explanation (and inference) versus prediction. This depth of perspective, and technically correct understanding of these important nuances, are reflected in how the material in this book is organized and presented. Fourth, they provide a unified and coherent approach to understanding these models. They have major sections on classification models and prediction models. They also have sections on time series forecasting, association models, and clustering. For instance, itâ€™s the only one Iâ€™ve looked at so far that has explained the difference between the Naive Bayes and Exact Bayes algorithms, although I havenâ€™t looked at the Manning books on ML (e.g., Practical Data Science with R) some of which use R and some Python (e.g., Real-World Machine Learning). By a kindergarten approach to ML, I donâ€™t mean to be disrespectful or to minimize the contribution of the bookâ€”presenting a topic at a simple basic level is worthwhile. The reasons I downgraded the book slightly were the large number of errors in the book (which look like material from previous editions that wasnâ€™t caught) and some carelessness in what is presented. For some reason, in the chapter entitled â€œOverview of the Data Mining Process,â€ it bothered me a lot that the authors detail creation of dummy variables but donâ€™t present factor variables until halfway through the book. Perhaps that was just the desire to present things at a basic level, however. I did learn some R functions I wasnâ€™t familiar with from this book, and it does provide clear, explicit explanations of ML (or data mining) techniques. (For the life of me, I still donâ€™t have a clear understanding of the differences between ML, data science, data analytics, and data miningâ€”I suspect it is how the techniques and data are used that determines the difference, because the same techniques are used in all of these disciplines.) Hope this review was useful.

This book is very accessible for business professionals who want to develop their skills in data mining. I like how the "R" codes are presented and the ease in how it can be reproduced. Furthermore, each chapter is a stand-alone topic and does not generally require a sequenced order of reading from start to finish.
